Nat? Who that?
Natalie ‘Nat’ Griffen is a Los Angeles-based screenwriter, webcomic and cartoonist.
Though she’s only in her late 20’s, Nat feels like she’s already lived a bevy of lives: She’s won an NCAA National Soccer Championship, designed apps for tech companies, delivered groceries for Instacart, worked in fashion as a footwear designer, and somehow finagled a job in the New York state government as a “digital consultant” (don’t ask.)
Nat has since written, directed and starred in the short Killing Time and currently has a project in development at HBO Max. She spends her days writing stories and sharing her thoughts, doodles and jokes on Instagram at @greatjobnat. The emerging filmmaker is represented by Heroes & Villains Entertainment.
The former improv student of NYC’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) grew up in a big Mexican-American family in the Bay Area, CA. She’s a Latina who has never felt Latin enough because of her blondish hair and broken Spanish; and a woman who never feels woman enough in her old Nikes, basketball shorts and painful aversion to dresses. Perhaps a result of her intensely competitive athletic upbringing, Nat’s dealt with panic attacks and eating disorders and yet, she can’t stop making jokes about all of it. Now, she makes a sustainable outlet for all of her stresses—personal, societal and existential—as a screenwriter and through her weirdo internet presence
Griffen graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelors of Science in mechanical engineering (as all comedy writers do).
